SOUNDSTREAM BRINGS AMAZON ALEXA INTO YOUR CAR

When Amazon's voice-assistant, Alexa, will officially launch in Australia is anyone's guess. Retrofitting Alexa to your vehicle is now a reality though thanks to Soundstream's new VRA-67B Alexa-enabled head unit.

The first voice control head unit from Soundstream debuts at this week's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Incorporating Alexa Voice Service (AVS) allows the user to speak commands similar to what you would find on a typical Amazon Echo Dot.

For example, you could ask Alexa for live traffic or weather updates, remind you of upcoming appointments, or be guided to your nearest service station or fast food outlet of choice.

The VRA-67B is a double-DIN unit featuring a 6.2” LCD touchscreen. Additional features include support for DVD, CD/MP3, AM/FM receiver and 4.0 Bluetooth Connectivity.

Soundstream says they expect to make the VRA-67B available before mid-year 2018. Pricing has not yet been announced.
