HOYTS CINEMA HAS SIGHTS SET ON VIRTUAL REALITY
With the arrival of Virtual Reality, movie trailers will never be the same again. If you’ve ever wanted to prance around a cinema foyer wearing massive bug-eyed VR specs, your time is now!
Hoyts Cinemas today announced a new way to preview forthcoming movies. Foyers in selected Hoyts cinemas will host state-of-the-art 360° virtual reality immersion sets, where movie-lovers have a chance to get off their seats and into the action.
The Highpoint Hoyts (Maribyrnong, VIC) will be the first to launch, and by the end of March, movie fans will be able to slip on the VR headsets in-foyer at another four HOYTS locations across Australia – Melbourne Central, Chadstone (VIC), Carousel (WA) and Blacktown (NSW).
Working with specialist supplier VRX Networks, several major Hollywood Studios will deliver fresh virtual reality content to coincide with the latest movies, effectively VR Immersion Movie Trailers. The first ones are already out, including Pacific Rim: Uprising and the Emoji Movie.
Damian Keogh, CEO of the Hoyts Group, said:
We’re making the movies magical for a new generation of movie-goers. Virtual reality is the latest innovation in entertainment, and by bringing virtual reality to Hoyts cinemas, we’re not only making this technology more widely available, but we’re also enriching the movie experience for our moviegoers.
Bringing Virtual Reality technology to cinemas, is all about greater immersion into the movies and giving guests more than the traditional experience. With virtual reality hitting Hoyts from March 16 and new content dropping frequently, there’s no better time to head to the movies.
